Student Skill Level:
Beginner – You have never knitted or crocheted before.
Advanced beginner – You know how to cast-on, knit and purl, bind off and have
made a scarf or two.
Intermediate – You are proficient at reading simple patterns and have done a
variety of stitches.

1) New Knitter – Adult: Beginner level class. You will learn how to cast on,
knit, purl and bind off. You will make a scarf as you learn the process of
knitting. Class limit: 4 students. Cost: $25. Needles and yarn will be
provided.

2) Learn to Crochet: Beginner level class. Get started crocheting. You will
learn how to get started with a crochet chain; from there you will learn the
single, half double and double crochet stitch plus simple increases and
decreases. In the class you will make a small sample piece suitable for a
potholder or coaster. Class limit: 5 students. Cost: $20. Crochet hook and
yarn provided.

3) Learn Continental Knitting: Intermediate. This method is done by holding
the yarn in the left hand and placing the yarn in the ideal spot for picking
as you knit. This class is for anyone who wants to learn the German
continental method of knitting. Class limit: 5 students. Cost: $15 plus
materials. You will need to bring one set of straight needles and yarn that is
suitable for the size needles you bring. This class is also available by

4) Modular/Mitered Square Bag: Advanced Beginner. Knit a felted bag out of
squares with minimal sewing. You will have a choice of making the bag by
picking up stitches and knitting strips, or making it with mitered squares.
Yarn: 2 colors worsted weight wool (600 yds. each). Needle: US #9 – US #11
(10” straight needle). Supplies: tapestry needle, purchased bag handle or
Double point needles US #9 for I-cord handle. Class limit: 5 students. Cost:
$25 plus materials.

5) My First Sweater: Advanced Beginner. You have completed enough scarves;
hats and afghans and now you want to make a sweater. This class is for you.
Tina will help you step by step as you complete your first sweater. If you
need help picking a pattern and yarn, please come to class at least a half
hour earlier. Cost: $25 plus materials. Class limit: 5 students. Instructor:

6) Next Step-Knitting: All levels. Move beyond the basic lessons and expand
your knitting skills. You may choose your own project and we will be there to
answer any questions you have along the way. You will learn such things as an
alternative cast on, following a chart, grafting, decreasing and increasing,
plus much more. Class limit: 5 students. Cost: $20 plus materials.

7) Next Step Crochet: Advanced beginner. Working on a crochet project and need
help with different parts? This class will be perfect. Get together with other
crocheters, and get assistance with your project. Class limit: 5 students.

(Three sessions) Class 1: Sun 7/11, 7/18, 7/25 (12:30-2:30)
8) Finishing: Advanced beginner to intermediate. In this class you will learn
how to work a sewn bind-off; how to use Mattress stitch to join two pieces of
knit work together in both Stockinet and Garter stitches; how to join
horizontal to vertical seams as for setting in a sleeve, and how to invisibly
weave in ends. Students must know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.
PRE-WORK required: please bring already knitted swatches, prepared as follows:
1. Swatches with a smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn, cast on 20
stitches and knit 20 rows in Stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row). Make
two, and bind off each when finished.
2. Swatches with a smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn cast on 20
stitches and knit 20 rows in Garter stitch (knit every row). Make two, and
bind off each when finished.
3. With a smooth, light-colored, worsted weight yarn, cast on 20 stitches and
knit 20 rows in Stockinet stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row). LEAVE THIS SWATCH
ON YOUR NEEDLE..
Please also bring 2 yards of a smooth scrap yarn in a different color, a
blunt, large-eyed needle (tapestry needle), tape measure and scissors. Class
limit: 5 students. Cost: $15 plus materials.

9) Ready, Set, Oops: Intermediate. In this class Tina will touch on numerous
subjects such as how to read yarn labels, why yarn gauge is so important, how
to fix mistakes in your knitting, how to read your work, how to count rows and
what a twisted stitch looks like. Bring your questions with you and Tina will
guide you through all those little mishaps that can happen.
PRE-WORK required.
You will need to bring a sample knitted with worsted weight, light colored
yarn on a size 7 or 8 US needles. Cast on 24 stitches, do 2 inches of
stockinet stitch (knit one row purl one row), 2 inches of 2x 2 ribbing (k2,
p2), 2 inches of garter stitch (knit every row), and finish with 1 inch of
stockinet stitch. Leave the sample on the needle. Do not bind off. Cost: $15.

10) Baby Booties-Crochet : Learn to make a cute little pair of booties for the
new baby on the way.
This one session class will teach you the basics of crocheting booties. Class
limit: 5 people. Cost $15 plus materials. Instructor: Nancy Vandivert.

11) Baby Hat-Crochet: Learn to make a cute little hat for the new baby on the
way. This one session class will teach you the basics of a quick crochet hat.

12) Pinwheel Baby Blanket:
Advanced beginner. Sick of the same old square baby blanket? Make something a
little different. This round baby blanket goes quick in chunky yarn, with a
small lacy border. Knit in one piece, you only sew one seam to close the
circle. You will also learn about short rows in making this cute blanket.

13) Sock on Double point needles:
Advanced beginner. Learn how to knit on double pointed needles while making an
adult size sock. In this class you will knit a sock from the cuff down. This
class will incorporate all the techniques needed for a sock including a
stretchy cast on, heel flap, gusset and Kitchener stitch. You may choose from
three different sock weights, fingering (sock), sport weight or worsted
weight. Please arrive early to class in order to choose the yarn weight for
your socks. For a basic sock, you will need two balls and for a lacy or longer
sock three. You will also need a set of 4 or 5 dpn, in appropriate size for
your yarn. Repeat sock knitters are welcome! Cost: $25 plus materials. Class
limit: 5 students.

14) Socks on Circular needles: Advanced beginner. This class will cover the
techniques of working one sock using two circular needles instead of
double-pointed needles, and will demonstrate the "Magic Loop" technique for
knitting one sock on one circular needle. You may choose either top down or
toe up. Please bring: two US size 2 24-inch circular needles, one skein of
sock weight yarn in a color of your choice, and a stitch marker. If you wish
to try the Magic Loop technique, please bring one US size 2 40-inch circular
needle. Class limit: 6 students. Cost: $25 plus materials. Instructor: Nancy

15) Top Down Sweater: Advanced beginner. Make a sweater without any seams.
Start at the neck line and knit around and around until you get to the waist.
No sewing up! Bring your own pattern or choose one of ours. If selecting one
of ours please come at least a half hour early to the first class. Class

16) Summer lacy sweater: Advanced beginner. Get ready for warmer weather and
make this nice lacy cardigan to wear as a suit cover up, or even wear it as a
nice top on a warm summer evening. Down load the free pattern from the DROPS
design website.

17) Duplicate your favorite sweater: Intermediate. Do you have a favorite
sweater that you can’t live without? Now you can duplicate it and have another

18) Branching-Out Scarf: Intermediate. Learn to read a simple lace pattern.
This scarf can be done in Alpaca or even Bamboo to be worn in various styles.
It can be worn for warmth or to dress up an outfit.

19) Just Men-Next Step: All levels. Real men knit, so take a class where only
men are allowed to attend. Choose your project and have the assistance of an
instructor to help you with the tricky parts. Class limit: 5 students. Cost:

20) Girasole Shawl/Wrap: Advanced beginner. Have you seen the shawl by Jared
Flood? It is knit in the round, so no purling and is a beautiful lace shawl.
Done in fine yarn it can be a delicate lacy shawl, if you choose a heavier
yarn in works great as a warm winter shawl. You are required to download the
pattern. The cost is $6.50 and is available from the following web site:

21) Hemlock Ring Blanket: Advanced beginner. This afghan is also designed by
Jared Flood. This is a perfect project for the beginning lace knitter. It is
knit in bulky yarn, so it will go quickly. You are required to download the
pattern. This is free on

22) Needle felted Flowers: Everyone. Try something new! Make a felted flower
out of wool roving. These flowers are wonderful to decorate a hat, a special
bag, or even to give to mom for Mothers day as a corsage.

23) Tunisian Crochet: Advanced beginner. Learn this wonderful technique for
crochet. It has a very different look than the traditional crochet and is done
using a very long crochet hook. Class limit: 5 people. Cost: $15 plus

24) One Shot Technique Classes: Intermediate. These one session classes will
help you gain confidence in some of the little tricks in knitting that make an
item look finished. PRE-WORK required: For most of these techniques it is
required to have a knitted swatch still on the needles. Use worsted weight,
light colored yarn with a US 7 or 8 needle (straight or circular, depending on
class). For color work classes bring 2 different yarns. Other supplies:
tapestry needle, stitch markers, scissors. Class limit: 5 students. Cost $15
